The Tiffin-Seneca Public Library is introducing a new lecture series honoring former Tiffin native John Quinn. The “John Quinn Lecture Series” will kick off with a virtual program on Wednesday, March 17 at 6:30 p.m.

Hosted by the Library and the Heidelberg University English Department, this program will celebrate the Irish legacy of John Quinn and his most famous client, James Joyce. Joyce’s short story collection Dubliners will be discussed. Copies of Dubliners are available for checkout at the Library. The e-book and audiobook can be found on the Ohio Digital Library and hoopla.

Heidelberg University’s Dr. Barry Devine will serve as the host for this event. Dr. Devine is a specialist in the works of James Joyce and Irish modernism and is a contributor to the forthcoming The Cambridge Centenary Ulysses.

Dr. Ellen Scheible from Bridgewater University will be the guest speaker. Dr. Scheible is a specialist in Irish literature and is the co-editor of the book, Rethinking Joyce's Dubliners.

John Quinn was born in Tiffin in 1870. He grew to international fame as a lawyer and collector of literature and art. At the time of his death in 1924, Quinn had amassed the largest collection of modern art in the world. He was also famous for providing legal advice and services to many modernist authors including James Joyce, T. S. Eliot, and William Butler Yeats.
